Don't Be A Yuck Mouth: Get Rid Of That Bad Breath

Dentist Blog

If you are experiencing more bad breath than normal, you want to make sure you don't have any issues going on with your health that can be causing it. There are some conditions that cause breath to become bad that should be treated by a dentist. In order to determine what's causing your recent bout of bad breath, you want to ask yourself the following questions:

Have you been eating foods that cause bad breath?

Eating certain foods can cause bad breath. This is a problem that comes with an easy solution. All you have to do is cut back on those foods. A few examples of foods known to make breath turn bad are onions, garlic and alcohol. If you haven't added any of these types of foods to your recent diet, then you can move on to the next question.

Have you been taking proper care of your mouth?

There are many people who simply brush their teeth each day. When it comes to regular dental hygiene, this is about all they do. However, taking proper care of your mouth actually requires more than this. You want to do everything you can to remove plaque and bacteria from your teeth, tongue and the rest of your mouth. In order to do this, you should be brushing your teeth, flossing after meals, and using a tongue scraper. You should also consider using a good mouth wash right before going to bed. Don't drink anything after using mouthwash, so it continues to work for a while. If you have already been following a good oral routine, then move on to the next question.

Have you been experiencing any dental issues lately?

Have you recently been experiencing tooth sensitivity, especially when you eat or drink something hot or cold? If so, then you may have a cavity. Have your gums been bleeding when you brush your teeth, are they swollen, are they red or painful? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may have gum disease. Either of these conditions can lead to the development of bad breath.

If you feel that there may be a dental issue that's causing your bad breath, then the best thing you can do is to get in to see your dentist. Also, if you can't figure out the reason on your own, the see the dentist anyway. They will give you an examination and help you figure out what's going on and treat you for any underlying conditions. For more information, visit websites like http://www.nwidentist.com/.

Coping With Dental Emergencies

My son was outside playing with some friends when he accidentally fell down and hit his mouth on the sidewalk. The fall knocked out his front tooth, so I immediately placed the tooth in a small jar and added some milk. I rushed my son to the dental clinic and the dentist immediately took us into the examination room. The dentist placed the tooth back into the socket and saved it. My name is Beverly Tillman and thanks to the quick work of the dentist, my son didn't lose his tooth. Since this was a scary time for me and my son, I wanted to write this blog as a source of information for other parents who are facing a dental emergency. First of all, don't panic and get to your dentist as soon as possible. I hope this blog will help to answer your questions about dental emergencies.
