Going to the dentist is incredibly important. Too many people put off going to the dentist because they think they don't have a cavity, or they think it will be too expensive to go regularly. These are flawed ways of thinking, which is why it is important to know why you should go to the dentist regularly, and how to choose the right dentist. Here are some things you should know.
Why Do You Go to the Dentist Every 6 Months?
Believe it or not, going to the dentist more often will save you money and will protect your teeth. Too many people wait until they have tooth pain to go and see the dentist. This means that when they do go they will have major dental work, because tooth pain usually means a more serious cavity, thus a crown or a root canal. Instead, you can prevent major problems. If you are seeing the dentist every 6 months they can catch cavities and decay before it becomes serious. What could become a root canal if left untreated, will be a simple filing, if caught right away.
The amount of time it takes teeth to decay usually can be treated within 6 month increments. Thus, you can be confident that if you are going every 6 months, there won't be any expensive dental work, and that your teeth will be healthier. Additionally, most insurances will pay for dental cleanings, so you really will save money.
How Do You Know You Have Found the Right Dentist?
Finding the right dentist can be hard. There are so many dental offices out there competing for your business that it can be challenging to know who to choose. First of all, you need to find someone who is honest. As mentioned earlier, your teeth won't decay much faster than the 6 month period. If after a 6 month wait your dentist tells you that you need a crown for a small filling, or if they are doing expensive dental procedures each time, you should get a second opinion.
Second, you need to find someone who makes it easy for you to get in. If you have an emergency or a problem, you need to know that your dentist takes you seriously. And lastly, if any f the work they have done previously for you like a crown or filling breaks, then you should consider getting a new dentist. These things shouldn't be breaking often.

My son was outside playing with some friends when he accidentally fell down and hit his mouth on the sidewalk. The fall knocked out his front tooth, so I immediately placed the tooth in a small jar and added some milk. I rushed my son to the dental clinic and the dentist immediately took us into the examination room. The dentist placed the tooth back into the socket and saved it. My name is Beverly Tillman and thanks to the quick work of the dentist, my son didn't lose his tooth. Since this was a scary time for me and my son, I wanted to write this blog as a source of information for other parents who are facing a dental emergency. First of all, don't panic and get to your dentist as soon as possible. I hope this blog will help to answer your questions about dental emergencies.
